Fold Fonts

Startpoint for this project was the brief to design an email icon and the wish to keep a folded angle irrespective of the width, height and thickness of a line.

An animated letter M looking like an envelope.
The folded corners of the M are adjusted automatically.

The solution consists of a set of scripts to draw lines between any given set of points and allow the setting of several parameters while keeping the folded corners consistent.

The numbers zero to nine. The numbers zero to nine.
Any set of points can be supplied

Parameters

Since the points are just sets of (x,y) coordinates their width or height can be scaled independently.

Independent scaling in the x and y dimension

The thickness of the stroke can be adjusted and a front and back color can be supplied.

The stroke weight parameter animated

Finally there is a setting to split the line into several strokes.

Fonts

The typefaces do not exist as installable font files but rather consist of lists of (x,y) coordinates. All of the above mentioned parameters can be applied to an input text.
